Smile for a Lifetime of Pinellas County
In 2012, Dr. McDowell founded the Smile for a Lifetime of Pinellas County chapter as a way to give back to the community and invest in the future of underserved children. It is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Through this organization, Dr. McDowell provides scholarships for orthodontic treatment to 8-10 local children each year on a completely pro bono basis. Recipients are required to perform a 40 hour community service project as part of the program’s Pay it Forward Clause.
Smile for a Lifetime Foundation is a national charitable non-profit organization of doctors that provides orthodontic care to individuals who may not have the opportunity to acquire assistance. Launched in 2008, Smile for a Lifetime Foundation aims to reach individuals with financial challenges, special situations and orthodontic needs. Families must have an income of less than 185% of poverty level. Click here to see income eligibility table.
At Smile for a Lifetime Foundation it is our mission to create self-confidence, inspire hope, and change the lives of children in our community in a dramatic way. The gift of a smile can do all this for a deserving, underserved individual who, in turn, can use this gift to better themselves and our community. Our "Pay it Forward" requirement is our way of rewarding those individuals who are truly deserving of this wonderful benefit, and to serve by example that good deeds within our community do not go unnoticed.
